That's just the course itself — add a medical certificate for roughly CZK 500, an exam fee of CZK 700, and CZK 200 for issuing the license. In Prague, the course alone runs around CZK 29,000. What Changed in 2024
A major amendment to the Road Traffic Act took effect in January 2024. It brought several changes that directly affect you as a future driver. If you're searching for information online, be careful — a lot of articles are outdated.
The biggest change is the L17 scheme: a driver's license from age 17. If you're seventeen, you can drive after passing the exams — but only under the supervision of a mentor. The mentor must have held a category B license for more than 10 years, must have zero penalty points, and must not have had a driving ban in the last 5 years. All new drivers now get a probationary license — a two-year trial period. If you accumulate 6 or more points during it, you must complete a mandatory course. Since 2024, documents are verified electronically. You don't need to carry your driver's license or vehicle registration. But we still recommend keeping them handy — electronic verification won't help you abroad.
