I understand and thank you for your perspective from the outside. I can imagine such a drive very well. I can't help but agree with you that slow driving in the middle lane is dangerous for the flow of traffic.
If you allow me, I would like to offer a view from the driving school car and I hope you will be glad in the end that the car with the student remained only in the middle lane.
Beginner driving school drivers face many challenges at once. Sometimes they are young and talented and can handle driving in traffic naturally, other times they are older people whose partner has driven their whole life and suddenly the time has come when they need to learn to drive themselves.
Some people are terrified when a car goes faster than 50 km/h, others are afraid to look in the mirrors and even when they look in them, the "wind" blows them off the road. They often want to react, but they are still slow, their hands don't obey them, they are learning something new, the instructor is talking to them, cars are passing them from the right and someone is flashing their lights and honking their horn from behind. There are situations when students would rather step on the brake or get out while driving.
The instructor is there to teach them how to drive safely, to learn from their mistakes, such as driving in a lane where they have nothing to do. He also teaches the student how to react to other drivers, but at the same time ensures that the student does not endanger traffic more than just by driving slowly.
Believe me, driving school instructors very often feel like packing it in. You wrote correctly that they expose themselves to danger, both outside and inside the car. Therefore, I ask you for a little leniency - if you see a driving school, give it space. The student is really just learning all this.
